Now this handbag was in the 'Nest" for the 6 months we were open and I still can not believe it did not find a home. I deep down think because it had nuts and oak leaves on it, it wanted to be mine.

Since we are in the discovery mode, I found this old 70's tigers eye ring in my jewellery box. I have had it for years, I just loved it when I was a real retro girl wearing all 60's and 70's gear.

We are both so terribly tired!

I have a very mushy head that is filled with photographs, postage, measurements and on-line stuff.

Taking a coffee break at a cafe is a great way to get out of the studio and recharge.

I did ask Warren if he could get me a coffee with brain cells please. Tee Hee!!!

Do you find that sometimes...

You find a fabulous vintage piece and it is love at first sight!

This "Sonny" knit cardigan from the 70's was that, I was with Warren's lovely mummy at Christmas and we were in a Savemart in Invercargill. We where going through the retro rack and just like a sparkle in the dark there she was. The first words she heard were "OH I LOVE THIS".

I think she loved me too!!!!!

Sunday drive....

Miss Daisy-Boo is back from the panel beaters and all back to her "pretty best". So driving Miss Daisy on Sunday seemed fitting.

This is an old favourite 50's dress I have had for years, and she is along way from her "pretty best". I am sure you sweet-peas have a vintage fave that is on the brink of going to vintage heaven.

Sunday was a little cold so I got to wear my great new late 60's linen jacket I brought a few weeks ago from Sallies, its a bit big for me but it was soooo coming home. Look at the great pattern and I love brown and blue together. Yay vintage is always so good.

Market Squirrel.....

These photographs are from last Sunday. We are trying very hard to just buy all our vegies, fruit and other yummies from "Farmers markets". The Rangiora Farmers market is on every Sunday from 9am-12.30pm in the council carpark. Please support these markets sweet-peas it is so important, there produce is grown with love.

It was a good day to wear my school style red pinafore with my new shoes from Melbourne. YAY, I was so happy to find these old style school shoes that I brought two pairs in black and red.

The beautiful felt bag and brooch are wonderful creations by my gorgeous friend Katy at Threadmark. I am so lucky to have been gifted so many of her amazing pieces.

Testing, Testing...........

We spent the day getting the studio ready for all the lovely vintage treasure that we will be photographing for the new on-line shop. It's not long now sweet-peas!!!!Heaps of testing, testing and I am pleaesed I won't be the model, the dummies do a better job.

The little green gingham boys bow tie I am wearing with my dress was a lovely gift from the gorgeous Nicole at "Circa Vintage Clothing" in Fitzroy Melbourne. It was nice to finally meet her, I have her amazing book "Love Vintage" which has to be one of the best reference's and wonderful guides to vintage.

Splendid...... another tick on the very long to do list.

A Day to remember....

Time has passed but the hurt and sadness is still the haze that clouds all who live in Christchurch.

Today we are blessed that we have each other, thankful family and friends were not taken from us a year ago. With heavy hearts we cry for those who did.

We said farewell to Tete a Tete vintage and let her know she is in our heart forever.

Happiness is a night out in the city....

OK sweetpeas this is the last photo's from Melbourne.

We both got dressed up and went out into the city for a nice meal out, well that was the plan.

The truth is the night was filled with dissappointment.

Oh well I did wear my lovely dressmaker made, vintage 50's PK fabric, blue with silver roses, pattern from a 50's style dress. Best part the fabric cost me $1.50 from Sallies. My hair was being good and went up well too. Not all lost.

Taking the good with the bad, becoming an expert.

Laneways.......

Melbourne is one of those places that is great for two wandering squirrels.

The city is a labyrinth of paved little brick roads.

This one lead to a Chinese Church, the gates, fences and decoration where all painted red and black along the laneway.

Autumn was just popping in too, with sleepy leaves resting on the path.

I think I might have seen a furry werwolf too???

I decided to wear my birthday dress on Valentines day, I felt so pretty!!

There were flowers everywhere in Melbourne and it was just heavenly. I had been watching this flower stall for days as it got more and more delicious flowers in.

We walked through the Royal Arcade many times, I love the sound of your foot steps on the exquisite mosaic floor.

It was just so nice to be in beautiful old buildings that were still breathing, filled with light and people.

Happiness and sadness all rolled into one.

One of the fun things about a holiday is being a monster and eating heaps of yummy food, YES???

This a fabulous place we just came across in Brunswick street in Fitzroy called the "Food Hall" I think. We had a great pizza and washed down with a organic cola. The space was so open with sensational light.

The very colourful seersucker cotton dress was a nice purchase from "Anonymous Posh" and was lovely to wear in the heat.

Sorry poppets its going to be a few days of holiday photo's, just pop a "yawn" in the comments.

Hello Sweet-peas, the squirrels have been away on a much needed break to a big city!

Melbourne for a week was just perfect, we slept heaps, drank coffee, ate yummy food and talked about the future. The best thing was just seeing beautiful old buildings looking splendid and NO earthquakes!!!! OH and the vintage and op-shops were fun fun fun. This was one of my finds from Retro-star, she is a lovely cotton 60's dress with a fabulous green scene print. I found lots of other wee treasures which I will "show and tell" over the next wee while. I have missed your lovely blogs so will be having a wonderful catch up.

BIG news!!! The on-line shop will be launched on the 5th of March 2012.

Yes yes I look so very tired!!!

Both of us are exhausted after the big sale, so much so I couldn't even pick a dress today!!!!!

So yes yes I know its so rare, but miss squirrel is wearing pants.

End of a era........

The "Nest" is now closed!!!

The two wee squirrels are so tired and so overwhelmed by the wonderful support we have had for the last days of the pop-shop. To all the lovely sweet-peas who came, gave flowers, left messages and found treasure to take home, THANK YOU.

There have been tears and laughs as we looked back over the last 6 years of being vintage shop owners.

An end of an era for Tete a Tete Vintage and Two Squirrels Vintage.

Now we are to be squirrels in space and the new adventure of offering gorgeous vintage on-line begins.

New beginnings, Yay!!!!

Part of the overwhelming kindness we have been shown is this beautiful precious silver bespoke two squirrel brooch, made by the lovely Jeremy Harding at Harding's Jewellers.

I was so taken I just burst into tears.

I will treasure it always, as I will the amazing connections we have made with so many gorgeous people.

After days of sorting all the stock for the sale and being in overalls covered in dust I wanted to feel clean in white. This also meant I could wear the beautiful Edwardian pantaloons I was very kindly gifted at Christmas from a lovely friend.They have the most heavenly lace on the bottom and little blue ribbons, I just love bloomers and pantaloons.

The Little rabbit brooch is from "Milou" and I am wearing another little bow brooch and lace too.

Well sweet-peas its time for the "nest" to open for the last weekend and let all the sale treasure find a home.

The apricot tree is on the cusp of being ready to harvest.

We got up today and picked a few ripe ones, but most of the fruit is a few days away.

I found this lovely piece of apricot coloured crochet trim which seemed perfect for keeping the hair out of my face while picking.

I do like a good house-coat and you do find they are usually lovely fabric and cotton.

Wearing them as a dress with a tie at the waist works well.

This is the dress I wore last week, sorry I have a few images and days to catch up on.

This 50's dress I have had for years and its one of those dress that is a comment collector.

Do you have a dress like that??? When you wear it people always say lovely things about it.

Its the go to dress when I am feeling a little yucky or need a pretty fix.

While taking these photographs I saw this fresh green hat in the nest matched.

That is another great pick me up, playing with hats.

Birthday tea..... silver service

Mr Warren asked a couple of days before my birthday where did I want to go for my birthday night?

I said the beach!!!!!!!

The beach it was!!!!

Fish n chips in the boot of Daisy-Boo.

It was just perfect.

After we had tea at the boo restaurant we went for a walk along the beach.

I wore my new dress from the dressmaker in the super cute vintage stripe fabric with little dancers.

Very very girlie.

I was 6 yesterday (you should always add your age numbers together) so the dress was just right.

As you can see the neighbours cat (we call Weasel) is a little mischief monster. Its hard to tell him off as he is so cute.

This is the lovely wee dress I brought from the very gorgeous Miss Leisa from Vintage Bird Girl.

While I am writing this I have just looked at her beautiful blog and have just read she has lost a very dear friend today, so through the tears we are sending a big squirrel hug. Heartfelt wishes to you and your loved ones sweet.

These images are from last week, after I went and had the prescription lens removed from the cool vintage glasses I wore in a previous post. So happy with them now, much better.

This is the wee rayon dress I brought a few weeks ago and its so comfortable and effortless to wear, got to love a $5.00 op-shop find. Wearing my favourite little loin brooch, it is the most beautiful embroidery.

Now since these photographs were taken poor Miss Daisy-Boo has been in a wee accident, she now has a dent in her front bumper. Poor Boo!!!! Grrr some monster backed in to her, but they were good and did leave there details thank goodness.

A hospital visit to the panel beaters is in store for my metal baby.

She will have to take her favourite teddy for her stay.

My dream colours

There is something about green and pink together that makes my heart just sing with happiness.

I am always making changes to our bed linen and last week I was so happy to find these green and pink rose pillowcases in a op-shop for 50c each, I was so thrilled with them as soon as they were dry on the clothes line, I pressed them and put them on the bed.

So you should then dress to match your room I think...........

I brought this wonderful rose fabric from a gorgeous friend, which I then had made into a 50's style dress by my dressmaker.

Hey sweet-peas sorry we have had a monster in the works(a few technical glitches), we should be back in blog space again.

Thank you Miss Helga you gorgeous lady for letting some of our followers know about our blog monster, and for featuring the squirrels.

We are a few days out with our frocks and treasures.

This dress is one you have seen before, but I am not sure if you have seen the bird pendant(medal).

The medal has engraved SCBC on the back, it stands for the "South Canterbury Bird Cage Society"

cool ah. Hmmm I wonder what little birdie won it.

Maybe a cute wee budgie, parrot or does a flying squirrel count????

Hanging out at home

This dress is an old favourite I brought in Melbourne a few years ago from "Retrostar", she is like an old pair of slippers, I always feel comfortable in her. I just love the patch pockets and the brown gingham sash.

Now sweet-peas you may have noticed that we have been taking a few photographs inside our wee house, helped by the fact we have a new camera. Yay its so much fun and I hope you are enjoying the mini tour of the squirrels abode.

Reflection......

Its hard to believe sitting in the nest that we will be all closed up in 4 weeks, its such a cool space and we put so much work into it. I remember how hard it was to try to pull up the socks again and to find the strength to carry on. We have been so humbled by the support form all the lovely sweet-peas who have made there way out.

So will end another phase, then on to the new and exciting world of "Squirrels online".

We have both been brain storming and have so many ideas of what we can do.

While we were down south for Christmas Warren's gorgeous mum gave me this heavenly wee album which belonged to a old family friend 'Phyllis" It was so lovely to be given it as it was a Christmas present to her back in 1928. I think I will use it for old tickets, ciggy cards, small photographs and other secret things.

To all the squirrel lovers out there, we would like to anounce with a heavy heart but at the same time exitement, that we will be closing the pop-up shop the 'nest' on the 5th of February 2012. And open our online store early March.
It has become increasingly more complicated trading from a residential premises

Turning back the clock

I brought this small print floral 80's dress in a wee op-shop and the print was so familiar that it has been bugging since. After ironing it this morning I decided to look at some old photo's and yes there it was, 1992 a dress I had 20years ago. Eeeeek I am not sure where that leaves me if I told you it was a vintage dress. Maybe it was a wake up call since another birthday is not to far away.

OK moving on, this the absolutely amazing leather 70's handbag I brought in my favourite town in Southland, Riverton. It was the amazing tooled tree design that made me gasp.

Oh the bag and the dress were from the same shop, sorry I was so happy with these finds I forgot the name.

OK time to re-set the clock!

Denium Dungaree Girl

I do not own a pair of jeans, in fact sweet-peas I don't really wear pants, trousers or strides(I just wanted to use that word), its not that I have anything against them its just I can't seem to get the right fit. I always feel so uncomfortable in them, I've had a heap of operations(pelvic) and my tummy is so sensitive and bloated most of the time. BUT I can wear overalls or dungarees. I have been on the hunt for some denium ones for so long, while we were in Invercargill for Christmas Warren's mum took me to Savemart and look what was there. Yay!!! They are to big for me but just perfect for the garden.

Gardening bunny I was today, we are getting the nest ready to open on Saturday.

I have a heap of fabulous new dresses to go in.

Overall lots of wonderful new treasure!

It's time to let this year fly away!!!!

As you know this year has been one that we would like to forget, but it will forever be a year in which our world was tipped upside down. I have cried so many tears and have said goodbye to many things I have loved so dearly.
The sadness has been at times heartbreaking and I find an emptiness inside myself.
But as a fairy in the Forrest I must see the magic in the little things and spread my wings to catch the breeze and fly again.
With the light of a new year, I look to the future with a flicker of hope and love in my heart. Happiness.......

Welcome Miss Pansy

Hello sweet-peas!!!! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas day and Santa brought you fabulous vintage treasures.
This was one of my favourite Christmas presents. Warrens mum & dad gave me this wonderful vintage bike, called Miss Pansy, isn't she cute!!!!! I was just so thrilled, they gave me her to replace Miss Ruby, my pink bike I lost when two squirrels was demolished in the city.
I spent most of the day riding around the streets ringing my bell.
My Christmas day dress was a remake from a very damaged 50's dress, the fabric is just beautiful and I was so happy to save her.

Hey sweet-peas this post is nothing like I had planned for the last day in the nest for the year!!!!!!
As you may know we have had another series of very large earthquakes here today and they were so horrible. I am still a little shaken even now.
It has rocked the fragile wee spirits of all of us and I am sad that we all are so scared again.
So all I can say is please please stay safe and well over this Christmas period!!
The biggest furry squirrel hug to you all and may the rest of the year be filled with love and happiness.

So let's talk!!!

I have on my serious glasses to talk about the next stage of the squirrels!!
Some of you clever poppets have seen we are going to be cyber squirrels next year, yip an on-line shop!!!!
This is a big step for me as I have always only wanted the direct contact with where our treasure was going, but since the squashing of the shops I am faced with a new and exciting reality.
We are hoping to be up and running in a few months time if all goes well.(will keep you posted!)
Anyway on to these fab glasses I brought at the mission shop, when I dropped a Christmas present off to the gorgeous ladies I used to work with.
I can't see you sweet-peas they are as strong as hell and you are all fuzzy. I think I will have the lens removed.
The stripe jersey knit dress was a trade me buy way back in March, it's taken till now to fit the chubby squirrel.
Bunny brooch with pretty sparkles which is a reflection of the flowers in the garden.

Last night I had the most wonderful get together with my very dearest friends.
It was so special to spend this time and reflect on a year that has seen our lives change so much since the earthquakes. Lots of sad things have happened but this was all put aside for laughter, wonderful conversion, yummy food and festive drinks. I feel so very blessed to have theses amazing ladies in my life.
As host, I so had to have a new vintage dress, enter this beautiful linen dress I brought from the gorgeous Lorelei at her fabulous relocated shop in Sumner "Milou".
I set up the table under the trees in the backyard but it was so cold we only had a drinks and nibbles there before returning inside for the main course and presents by the fire.
Happiness is time with friends at Christmas......

To honor an amazing women and beautiful artist, ode to Frida Kahlo.
As soon as I found this dress in an op-shop a few weeks ago I was transported to the images of Frida's paintings and some of the photographs taken of her.
Her story and her incredible strength always inspire's me. My gorgeous friend Katherine has lent me a book "Self portrait in a velvet dress" Frida's wardrobe, it is the most magnificent insight to her legendary style.

This is a sneak peek at my "ladies in waiting", they are the dresses waiting to have there first wear. I always like to have a special occasion to start there adventure with me. Then I realized that that's what all the dresses and treasures are in the shop, they waiting to start a new adventure with a new owner.
Now which one of these is for the Christmas party, Christmas day and then my birthday???? Happiness is pretty dresses in waiting.....

I was once told you should never wear brown and black together, but I seem to quite often. So if I am breaking some fashion rule, it's not brown but Caramel. It sounds more yummy anyway.
Today was message day, as we are open at the nest till Christmas eve day.

Hello sweet-peas, what a gorgeous day today, so so warm.
We went to town today to do the last of the Christmas shopping.
It was perfect to wear a 50's cotton floral dress and my favourite blue (minx)shoes. Matched nicely with a wicker green handbag and the cute wee lapis lazuli earrings I brought at a garage sale on Saturday.

This is the dress I wore on Saturday, oh was so excited when I saw it hanging in Sallies on Thursday, I didn't even try it on!!! I always know when I am thrilled with a new op-shop find when I rush home and wash it straight away.
The rayon fabric is beautiful, and I love the cowl neckline. All the rest of the outfit is made up of op-shop finds and Tete a Tete vintage treasure.
Oh and the new feature on the Two Squirrels vintage blog, Weasel the neighbour pussy cat, again.

I am having a FAZE sweet-peas!!! Yip it's "jabot". Should not last long as I only have a few.
Worn with the one and only red polka dot dress I own. Hmmm that was the biggest fib ever.
While Mr Warren was taking these pics a little furry monster was hiding in the grass, Weasel the neighbors cat was ready to pounce. Attacker fur!!!!

The very gorgeous Andrea at "a cat of impossible colour" sent a few more lovely wee dresses for the nest.
This wee poppet I have been waiting to show you, look!!!!! It's made by Carol and it's candy cane striped in red, perfect Xmas dress.
I'm wearing my black rose 50's dress and the red rose knit brooch which was a present from Warren's lovely mum.
In my hair is a hairclip I made from a single clip-on earring, it's a beautiful silver maracite. Hmmmm not happy about the sparkle showing!!!(grey hair)

The gorgeous Kel at green tea and red nails asked if we wanted to join in on "four happy things on Friday", she had fairy bread as number 1, so how could I not post four happy things too.
Number 1: making the mixture for homemade strawberry cream chocolates for Xmas presents.
Number 2: pussy bows on a candy striped dress.
Number 3: picking cherries from the tree in the backyard, yummy!
Number 4: teddy bears on the bed.
Oh my little heart is singing at these happy things at home.....

We went Christmas shopping today.
This festive little outfit that got a few sideway looks at the mall and a few cute comments from a couple of ladies.(that was nice). Oh and Mr Warren thought it was cute too!!!

It was a cold and wet day here so that meant I could wear the wool swing jacket(circa 60's) I brought months ago from a wee vintage shop.

Today I found this beautiful edition of Jane Eyre in a box in the garage, as I opened the lovely old pages this gorgeous postcard fell out.
Isn't she just so sweet? My heart just melted. The postcard was dated 29th April 1916.
Happiness is finding a hidden treasure.

I brought this fabulous apron from the lovely Sue at the "Ferry Antique Centre" isn't she a wee poppet! Great 50's cotton, I love it to much to wear in the kitchen so today I wore it like a tunic over a dress.

Crazy weather at the moment, one day rugged for wet and cold, the next hot and summer dresses. Yip mother nature sure can be moody!!!!
This is my new(op-shop) dress I wore a couple of weeks ago and showed you sweet-peas. I am really liking wearing my summer dresses as wee pinafores at the moment.

One of the other joys of now having a shop at home is you get to do things between sweet-peas coming out.
Sitting on the steps of the shop eating a RED lollipop is also good.
Especially when it matches your cardy, tee hee.
Today I am wearing a Val(dressmaker) creation, she is the most beautiful linen cotton fabric with cute rose buds all over it. I had her made for the 5th birthday of Tete A Tete vintage.

The nest is already 12weeks old. Wow that's gone fast!!! It was such a lovely day with many lovely ladies coming out. A lovely visit from the fabulous miss Helga looking so very pretty. We spent ages trying on the great hats in the shop together, happy times.
Today I wore one of my favourite dresses, I've shown her before. She is covered in colorful dancing veggies, ain't that fantastic!!
